Dec 20, 2008 -
Well, another year has almost come and gone. I just wanted to take this time to wish all my wonderful friends and fans for all their generous support throughout this year. It was a wonderful year filled with music and many new friends. I wish for you and yours a wonderful holiday season….and a healthy, happy and prosperous 2009.
So, did 2008 go by fast or what? Musically, it was a very exciting and productive year for me. I look forward to an even more successful year to come. Some of the highlights for me were:
In April, I was finally able to go in and record my first EP/CD at the Factory Studios in Vancouver, which was quite the feat in itself. The whole CD was recorded and mixed within a 3 day period. It was sent off for mastering and I had 1000 CDs in my hand in less than a month! It was definitely a big learning experience. I learned a lot about the recording process and I will do a few things differently next time, but I had a great time and can’t wait to do it all again!
The CD did pretty well, considering it was my first CD. Of course, I sent out most of the CDs out for promotional purposes, which in turn helped me receive lots of airplay locally and on international college and community radio. I managed to chart on the !Earshot and RIYL Charts.
My songs, Rainbow Café, Wasn’t Thinking About You, and Unlucky continue to be in the Top 10 Requested songs on the VilleRadio Network in Louisville, Kentucky. Thanks to Marque and Wes for continuing to play my tunes…it is very much appreciated!
In October, I also started a radio promotion campaign through RadioDirectX out of Toronto, Ontario. My CD has been sent to various media and radio stations in Canada, USA, Australia, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Turkey, Poland, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Scotland, France, Belarus and Switzerland. I have received lots of positive feedback and have gained some airplay on some of the radio stations worldwide, which is awesome.
Unlucky, was chosen for the “NEW” Violet Femmes CD Volume 2…which should be released sometime in the early New Year. So, stay tuned for that.
Another big highlight for me this year was the surprise feature spotlight on Country Music Television (CMT) during the Chevy Cross Canada Countdown in November. It was great to have the opportunity to be showcased on television for some 5 million viewers across Canada. What an honor. Thanks again, CMT.
So what’s next? I have lots of exciting projects planned for 2009. One of which is going to include the production of a music video. I am already in the planning stages and I am working with a local filmmaker on all the details as I write this. If everything goes well, I hope to have something put together early Spring…I will let you know as things progress.
And did you know…the Junos are going to be held in Vancouver in March 2009? I am hoping to get involved in this event, in some shape or form. Ideally, I would like that to be in the opportunity to perform…but we'll see.
Lastly, the new band and I, have been working hard putting together existing and new material so we can get out and play more; longer shows locally. So, hopefully we will be out and about in your area soon. Our next show is scheduled for January 24th at the MountainStock fundraiser for Victims of Violence at O’Flannigan’s in Kelowna. Please check my website for more details. We hope to see you there!
Again, I thank you for all your support…the best of the season, in whatever way you choose to celebrate it. :0)
